Shloka 2
🌟 Sanskrit:
एवं परम्पराप्राप्तमिमं राजर्षयो विदुः |
स कालेनेह महता योगो नष्टः परन्तप || 4.2 ||
evaṁ paramparā-prāptam imaṁ rājarṣayo viduḥ |
sa kāleneha mahatā yogo naṣṭaḥ parantapa ||
🌟 Meaning:
Thus, this supreme science was received through disciplic succession and the royal sages understood it in that way. But with the passage of great time, this yoga has been lost here, O scorcher of foes.
🌟 Explanation:
Krishna describes how spiritual knowledge was preserved: through paramparā-an unbroken chain of teachers and students. This knowledge was cherished by royal sages (rājarṣayaḥ) who ruled as both leaders and enlightened beings. However, over time (kālena mahatā), this line became broken and the teachings became obscured. This loss is not just due to forgetfulness, but to neglect, misinterpretation, or lack of sincere practice. When the world drifts too far from the original purity of yoga, a divine intervention is needed to restore it.
Today’s Takeaway
Wisdom must be renewed. True knowledge is not static—it must be preserved, practiced, and shared with humility across generations. Whenever the chain of living wisdom breaks, confusion grows. If you’re reading and reflecting on these ancient teachings, you are participating in the restoration of an unbroken spiritual tradition. Help keep wisdom alive by making it a living reality in daily life.
