Shloka 1
तत्र तं बुद्धिसंयोगं लभते पौर्वदेहिकम् |
यतते च ततो भूयः संसिद्धौ कुरुनन्दन ॥ ६.४३ ॥
Tatra taṁ buddhi-saṁyogaṁ labhate paurva-dehikam,
Yatate cha tato bhūyaḥ saṁsiddhau kuru-nandana.
There (in the new birth), he regains the spiritual consciousness he had in his previous body, and from that point, he again strives for perfection, O descendant of Kuru.
The yogi who could not complete his journey in the previous life automatically regains his old spiritual understanding in the new birth. He doesn’t start from zero — he picks up exactly where he left off and continues striving!
Shloka 2
पूर्वाभ्यासेन तेनैव ह्रियते ह्यवशोऽपि सः |
जिज्ञासुरपि योगस्य शब्दब्रह्मातिवर्तते ॥ ६.४४ ॥
Pūrvābhyāsena tenaiva hriyate hy avaśho ’pi saḥ,
Jijñāsur api yogasya śhabda-brahmātivartate.
By the force of his previous practice, he is helplessly drawn toward yoga. Even one who is inquisitive about yoga surpasses the results of Vedic rituals.
The momentum of past spiritual practice pulls the person forward almost automatically. Even mere curiosity about yoga is so powerful that it takes one beyond the results of mere ritualistic practices. Divine grace works through previous efforts!
Shloka 3
प्रयत्नाद्यतमानस्तु योगी संशुद्धकिल्बिषः |
अनेकजन्मसंसिद्धस्ततो याति परां गतिम् ॥ ६.४५ ॥
Prayatnād yatamānas tu yogī saṁśhuddha-kilbiṣhaḥ,
Aneka-janma-saṁsiddhas tato yāti parāṁ gatim.
Through sincere and persistent effort, the yogi, purified of all sins and perfected over many births, ultimately attains the supreme goal.
With determined practice, all impurities are washed away. After many lifetimes of sincere effort, the yogi finally reaches the highest perfection and supreme destination. Progress is cumulative and beautiful!
