Daily Bhagavad Gita Inspiration 📖✨ | Day 57 🔥M-Day Bhagvad Gita Quote | Chapter 3: Karma Yoga |

Shloka 38

🌟 Sanskrit:
धूमेनाव्रियते वह्निर्यथादर्शो मलेन च |

यथोल्बेनावृतो गर्भस्तथा तेनेदमावृतम् || 3.38 ||

🌟 Transliteration:

dhūmenāvriyate vahnir yathādarśo malena ca |

yatholbenāvṛto garbhas tathā tenedam āvṛtam ||

🌟 Meaning:
As fire is covered by smoke, as a mirror is covered by dust, or as the embryo is covered by the womb, the living entity is similarly covered by different degrees of this lust.

🌟 Explanation:
Krishna provides three analogies to illustrate how desire (kāma) obscures the consciousness of the soul.

  1. Smoke covering fire: This is a slight covering, where the soul's knowledge is partially visible but clouded.

  2. Dust covering a mirror: This covering is thicker and requires a conscious effort to clean.

  3. Womb covering an embryo: This represents a state of complete helplessness and ignorance, where the covering is almost total.
    These three levels show how desire can affect us to different degrees, depending on our state of consciousness.

Shloka 39

🌟 Sanskrit:
आवृतं ज्ञानमेतेन ज्ञानिनो नित्यवैरिणा |

कामरूपेण कौन्तेय दुष्पूरेणानलेन च || 3.39 ||

🌟 Transliteration:

āvṛtaṁ jñānam etena jñānino nitya-vairiṇā |

kāma-rūpeṇa kaunteya duṣpūreṇānalena ca ||

🌟 Meaning:
Thus, the wisdom of even the wise is covered by this eternal enemy in the form of lust, which is insatiable and burns like fire, O son of Kunti.

🌟 Explanation:
Krishna explicitly names lust (kāma-rūpeṇa) as the "eternal enemy" (nitya-vairiṇā) of the wise. He gives it two powerful descriptions:

  1. Duṣpūreṇa: It is insatiable. No amount of gratification can ever satisfy it; it only grows stronger.

  2. Analena: It burns like an unquenchable fire.
    This verse is a direct warning that desire is not a friend to be negotiated with, but a destructive force that must be understood and conquered.

Today’s Takeaway

Recognize the covering. Our true nature is pure consciousness, like a brilliant fire or a clean mirror. Selfish desire is the smoke and dust that covers this inner light. The first step to spiritual clarity is to identify this covering for what it is: an external force that is insatiable and ultimately harmful. By understanding how desire works, we can begin the process of cleaning the mirror of our consciousness and letting our inner wisdom shine. ✨

JAI SHRI KRISHNA👏👐💕💞💫🙇🙌🙏
