योगी युञ्जीत सततमात्मानं रहसि स्थितः |
एकाकी यतचित्तात्मा निराशीरपरिग्रहः ॥ ६.१० ॥
Yogī yuñjīta satatam ātmānaṁ rahasi sthitaḥ,
Ekākī yata-chittātmā nirāśīr aparigrahaḥ.
The yogi should always strive to concentrate his mind on the Self, remaining in a solitary place, alone, with controlled mind and body, free from desires, and without possessions.
Krishna gives the ideal setting for meditation: Choose a quiet, solitary place. Sit alone, keep desires in check, and let go of unnecessary possessions. Constant inner focus on the Self is the foundation of successful meditation. Simplicity and solitude help tremendously!

शुचौ देशे प्रतिष्ठाप्य स्थिरमासनमात्मनः |
नात्युच्छ्रितं नातिनीचं चैलाजिनकुशोत्तरम् ॥ ६.११ ॥
Śhuchau deśhe pratiṣhṭhāpya sthiram āsanam ātmanaḥ,
Nātyucchritaṁ nātinīchaṁ chailājina-kuśottaram.
In a clean place, one should establish a firm seat for oneself — neither too high nor too low — made of a cloth, a deerskin, and kusha grass, one over the other.
Practical tip! Choose a clean, sacred spot. Prepare a steady seat that is comfortable — not too high, not too low. Traditionally, it is layered with cloth, deerskin, and sacred kusha grass. A stable, comfortable posture supports long meditation without distraction.

तत्रैकाग्रं मनः कृत्वा यतचित्तेन्द्रियक्रियः |
उपविश्यासने युञ्ज्याद्योगमात्मविशुद्धये ॥ ६.१२ ॥
Tatraikāgraṁ manaḥ kṛitvā yata-chittendriya-kriyaḥ,
Upaviśhyāsane yuñjyād yogam ātma-viśhuddhaye.
Sitting firmly on that seat, with mind one-pointed and senses controlled, one should practice yoga for the purification of the self.
Once seated properly, make the mind single-pointed, withdraw the senses, and practice meditation with the clear goal of purifying the inner self. This is not just relaxation — it is a sacred process of cleansing and elevating the soul.
Today’s TakeawaySet the right environment and focus inward for real meditation! Choose a clean, quiet place, prepare a steady and comfortable seat, sit alone with controlled desires, and train your mind to become one-pointed. Meditation is a disciplined practice aimed at self-purification and union with the Divine. Start small, stay consistent — inner clarity will follow!
