Shloka 1
Sanskrit:
समं कायशिरोग्रीवं धारयन्नचलं स्थिरः |
सम्प्रेक्ष्य नासिकाग्रं स्वं दिशश्चानवलोकयन् ॥ ६.१३ ॥
Transliteration:
Samaṁ kāya-śhiro-grīvaṁ dhārayann achalaṁ sthiraḥ,
Samprekṣhya nāsikāgraṁ svaṁ diśhaśh chānavalokayan.
Meaning:
Holding the body, head, and neck straight and steady, gazing at the tip of one’s nose without looking in any other direction.
Explanation:
Krishna describes the ideal meditation posture: Sit upright with spine, head, and neck aligned (like a straight line). Gently fix your gaze at the tip of the nose. This keeps the body stable and prevents the mind from wandering through the senses. Simple yet powerful alignment!

Shloka 2
Sanskrit:
प्रशान्तात्मा विगतभीर्ब्रह्मचारिव्रते स्थितः |
मनः संयम्य मच्चित्तो युक्त आसीत मत्परः ॥ ६.१४ ॥
Transliteration:
Praśāntātmā vigata-bhīr brahmachāri-vrate sthitaḥ,
Manaḥ saṁyamya mach-chitto yukta āsīta mat-paraḥ.
Meaning:
With a serene mind, fearless, established in the vow of brahmacharya (celibacy/self-control), controlling the mind, and thinking of Me, the yogi should sit absorbed in Me as the supreme goal.
Explanation:
Inner qualities matter as much as posture! Stay calm, fearless, practice sense control, and fix your mind fully on Krishna (the Divine). Meditation becomes most effective when the heart is devoted and the mind is surrendered to the Supreme. Pure focus + devotion = deep union!

Shloka 3
Sanskrit:
युञ्जन्नेवं सदात्मानं योगी नियतमानसः |
शान्तिं निर्वाणपरमां मत्संस्थामधिगच्छति ॥ ६.१५ ॥
Transliteration:
Yuñjann evaṁ sadātmānaṁ yogī niyata-mānasaḥ,
Śhāntiṁ nirvāṇa-paramāṁ mat-saṁsthām adhigachchhati.
Meaning:
Thus, always disciplining the self, with a controlled mind, the yogi attains perfect peace — the highest nirvana that abides in Me.
Explanation:
The beautiful promise! When you practice meditation consistently with steady posture, controlled senses, and mind fixed on the Divine, you reach supreme peace — the highest state of liberation that resides in Krishna Himself. Regular practice delivers everlasting calm!
