🌟 Sanskrit:
यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत |
अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम् || 4.7 ||
🌟 Transliteration:
yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati bhārata|
abhyutthānam adharmasya tadātmānaṁ sṛijāmyaham||
🌟 Meaning:
Whenever there is a decline in righteousness and a rise in unrighteousness, O Bharata, at that time I manifest Myself on earth.
Shloka 8
🌟 Sanskrit:
परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम् |
धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे || 4.8 ||
🌟 Transliteration:
paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ vināśhāya cha duṣkṛitām|
dharma-saṁsthāpanārthāya sambhavāmi yuge yuge||
🌟 Meaning:
For the protection of the virtuous, the destruction of the wicked, and the establishment of dharma (righteousness), I appear millennium after millennium.
Explanation:
Krishna states the cosmic reasons for his incarnations. Whenever righteousness (dharma) fades and unrighteousness (adharma) rises, he descends to restore balance. This is not only to protect those living in alignment with dharma (sādhūnām) and destroy those disrupting it (duṣkṛitām), but above all to reestablish the foundational principles of cosmic order (dharma) itself. This threefold divine mission—protection, destruction, and restoration—is the heart of every avatar’s appearance in the world.

The Divine is dynamic, not static. God is present in history—acting whenever the world loses its moral compass. The purpose of divine action is to protect sincere seekers, remove great obstacles, and plant seeds of lasting virtue. Remember, the Divine does not just watch from afar, but steps into the world at crucial moments to support the triumph of goodness and truth.
