Shloka 1
Sanskrit:
बीजं मां सर्वभूतानां विद्धि पार्थ सनातनम् |
बुद्धिर्बुद्धिमतामस्मि तेजस्तेजस्विनामहम् ॥ ७.१० ॥
Transliteration:
Bījaṁ māṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ viddhi pārtha sanātanam,
Buddhir buddhimatām asmi tejas tejasvinām aham.
Meaning:
O Partha, know Me as the eternal seed of all beings. I am the intelligence of the intelligent and the brilliance (tejas) of the brilliant.
Explanation:
Krishna declares He is the original, eternal seed from which all life sprouts. He is the sharp intellect in intelligent people and the glowing brilliance in those who shine. He is the hidden source behind all excellence!
Shloka 2 Sanskrit:
बलं बलवतां चाहं कामरागविवर्जितम् |
धर्माविरुद्धो भूतेषु कामोऽस्मि भरतर्षभ ॥ ७.११ ॥
Transliteration:
Balaṁ balavatāṁ chāhaṁ kāma-rāga-vivarjitam,
Dharmāviruddho bhūteṣhu kāmo ’smi bharatarṣhabha.
Meaning:
I am the strength of the strong, free from desire and attachment. I am the desire in all beings that is not opposed to dharma (righteousness), O best of the Bharatas.
Explanation:
Krishna is the pure strength in powerful people — free from lust and greed. He is also the noble desire in living beings that aligns with dharma. Even healthy ambition and drive come from Him when it follows righteousness!
Shloka 3 Sanskrit:
ये चैव सात्त्विका भावा राजसास्तामसाश्च ये |
मत्त एवेति तान्विद्धि न त्वहं तेषु ते मयि ॥ ७.१२ ॥
Transliteration:
Ye chaiva sāttvikā bhāvā rājasās tāmasāśh cha ye,
Matta eveti tān viddhi na tv ahaṁ teṣhu te mayi.
Meaning:
Know that all states of being — sattvic (goodness), rajasic (passion), and tamasic (ignorance) — arise from Me alone. But I am not in them; they are in Me.
Explanation:
The three modes of material nature (Sattva, Rajas, Tamas) all come from Krishna. Yet He is beyond them. They exist within Him, but He is not limited or affected by them. He is the source, yet transcendental!
